If you are a subscriber, we want to know what your favorite thing is about Bloom! Magazine. Please comment on this post letting us know your answer and your answer could be used in an upcoming issue! Also, if you are a subscriber, please comment to tell us what you are thankful for this Thanksgiving.

The Window to the Soul Photo Challenge

Dear Sirs and Madams,
I am pleased to announce that a pleasant blogger friend, Allie, and I are co-hosting a photography contest! It is called The Window to the Sould Photo Challenge, due to this Yiddish proverb...

The eyes are the windows to the soul.

Below are the rules and the buttons; go to my blog or Allie's (link above) to enter.

1. The theme is EYES; the photograph can be of anything with eyes; the more focus on the eyes, the better.

2. You can enter up to three photographs in the contest.

3. They can be edited, but please specify how if possible.

4. One way to enter is to e-mail Allie at allie.reid96@gmail.com.

5. The other and likely most convenient way to enter is to post your photos on your blog, and comment on one of our blogs with the link.

6. If you do the latter method mentioned above, leave a comment on ONLY ONE of our blogs; NOT both.

7. There will be first, second, and third places, along with three honorable mentions.

8. We will judge by what pictures are the most creative, clear, picturesque, and eye-focused; NOT on favoritism toward the photographer.

9. We'd love it if you'd take one or both of the buttons,  post about the contest, and/or tell your friends!

10. Enter as soon as possible; we don't want you to forget!

11. Have Fun!!!!

12. (Lots of it!)

The contest started the 14th and ends on the 29th!
In case you are wondering about the prize, we have it planned but have not discussed whether to tell now or not so...it is a surprise! Please enter, and as soon as possible!

Blessings,
Amy Hollis

About the Chat Box...

Hey again!
I just wanted to let everyone know that for the time being I removed the chat box because we had at least three or four spammer/stalker type people commenting with random links on it.
Maybe we could put it back up later but I hope you girls understood why I took it down!

Another Amazing Issue!

This is going to sound extremely unoriginal.
But...
We totally awesomely ROCK!
I'm once again in awe of the tireless effort that everyone put into the October issue.
I sat and read EVERY last article.
It took about thirty good minutes, but it was entirely worth it. You know why?
Because every word was GLOWING with the image of Christ Jesus and His word.
And that's what counts the most. Congrats on another amazing issue, everyone!

CIY: Durango, CO

Hey, girls! It's me, KyAnn. Just wondering: Does anyone have any plans to attend CIY (Christ In Youth) summer camp in Durango, CO?
I thought it'd be super awesome if there was some of our girls there so we could meet each other!
Anyway....
Love,
KyAnn

Bon après-midi, amies!

Hello! My name is Allison. I'm a photographer on Staff 2 . . . and, like everyone else, I'm ecstatic about it and the fact that our first issue has come out looking spectacular and amazing. I'm also a servant of the Most High God, a sinner saved by His grace.
My favorite color is the color of the sky; my favorite time of day is when the stars are out; my favorite songs are a hymn called "Be Thou my Vision" and a song called "W
onderful, Merciful Savior."
I am fascinated with history in general and ancient Egypt, the W
ar Between the States and the Reign of Terror/French Revolution in particular.
I love to write any kind of teen fiction; I can't get enough of it, and someday I am going to get a book (or, preferably, many books) published. I also love photography, and editing my pictures on Picnik. If I were choosing a career, it would be a combination of both, but my dream is to be a wife and a stay-at-home mother, a light of Christ; and they will be a side-note in my life, not the focus. I pray that glorifying God and serving my family will always be my focus!

For His glory,
~Allison

First Issue Comes Tomorrow!

Hey girls and fellow readers and writers and photographers!

I just wanted to say that I think we should all give a shout out to KyAnn for organizing this whole thing. None of this would be here without her! She had an amazing vision for this magazine and now we all get to see it tomorrow. How cool is that? All of our hard work in one place. That's such a God-thing. Christian teen girls influencing Christian teen girls - that's what it's all about, don't you think? I'm pretty sure God is smiling down at us all right now. Don't forget that he loves us all!

What's In Your Soul/Sole!

Hey Guys!
So I went to a Catholic Media camp last month and we worked on a video to help the Christians in the Holy Land. If you have ever seen the "What's In My Purse" videos on YouTube you will understand the beginning of this video. We are trying to get people to show us their soul/sole instead of their purses and to get people praying for the Christians in the Holy Land. So please make a video response or share!

I thought if would be fun if...

Hey ya'll! I hosted a Modest Fashion Contest on my blog a little while ago, but no one entered, well, another girl hosted it with me, and she got a few entries. I thought it would be kinda fun if we all hosted a Photography Contest together. I could write the rules, you post them on your blog, then we gather up all the entries and choose a winner? And we can all judge, too. What do you think? Bad idea? I was just thinking if we all co hosted this together, we could get a decent amount of entries from all of our blogs put togther? Tell me what you think!

Interviewing a photographer!

I think I have the right to post about this... But first you should get to know me. My name is Ashley Jean. I will be 14 years old this month. I live in Iowa with my dad, mom and 2 brothers. Along with another brother, moved out with his family of 5. I am a huge Christian and love photography. I enjoy reading, dancing, blogging, and taking pictures. I am so happy to be part of the bloom staff and you can find my photography blog here. Ok now back to the interview :)

I have come to the interest of interviewing a photographer. I have been wanting to do this but now I am really up to it. I have thought of many questions to ask. Prayed. Hoped. Thought more. And prayed much more.

Things you should know before the questions come--
-The interview will be featured on my blog and can be featured on your photography blog if you want.
-I have a wide variety of questions you must answer at least 10 of them I already have 15+ questions. The questions are just about your photography (nothing is very personal)
-I will interview any of you if you have a public source (to your photos) on the internet for me to link to
-I will need at least 6 photos of your work and will except more :)

If you have any interest in this interview please just comment telling me so. If I get a comment or two or even more I will post the questions on a separate post on this blog. Just so you can see the questions then email me the answers if your interested :) I really hope to be able to interview one or two (maybe three) of you young ladies this is a huge opportunity for myself.

My Friends

I thought it would be fun to tell you guys about my best friends, Kala (pronounced Kayla) and Katrina! Well, here goes:

Kala! :)
Kala is 16, and she is homeschooled just like me! Even though she hasn't been homeschooled all of her life, she still loves it. I've known Kala since I was six years old. We met when I first started going to her church. She is a bit quiet, but once you get to know her, she is a lot of fun to be around! She loves music, and she takes clogging. She also enjoys acting (as do I!).  Her family is from Alabama, and her older sister (Jordan, who is also a really great friend of mine!) just recently moved there, taking an internship with a place called The Ramp. Kala is a wonderful, kind, and loving friend, and she is like my sister and will be forever. <3

Left: Me   Right: Katrina

Katrina is 12 years old (13 in December!), and she attends a private, Christian school. Katrina is a funny & outgoing person, and she knows how to make me laugh! She enjoys sports, and is a tom-boy through and through. She goes to the same church as Kala, which is where I met her. I did not get to know her at first like I did Kala, because at the time she was only 4 years old and she attended the preschool classes at the church. Katrina loves watching movies, and at the moment, her favorites are the six Star Wars movies!! (which is due to me, because I persuaded her to watch them, all 6 of them, when she was at my house once. She was hooked!)  :) Katrina and I are very close, and tell each other all our secrets, not having to be worried if the other will 'spill the beans'. We understand each other, and help each other with problems and such. Katrina, like Kala, is like a sister to me, and forever will be. <3

This is a really old picture, but I love it! <3

Perhaps this is old news....

Hello, wonderful fellow staff members! Maybe you've heard this before, but I'm having a photography contest over at my blog...

It's on the sidebar; it's ~Life Through the Left Window.

Any way, I'm not sure if we're supposed to just get on here anytime and write a post, but I think it's okay!

I've been going through a lot of changes (it is my first contest) and you may have seen the rules earlier. Here they are as they will stand:

*It's called A [Slightly Odd] Photography Contest

*The subject is seating (that's where the odd part comes in)

*You can enter up to three photos

*If you have my email address, it'd be best to e-mail the pictures directly to me; if not, just post them on your blog and let me know

*There will be a runner-up and a winner, and likely some honorable mentions

*The FINAL (believe, there's been plenty) deadline is a week from now, September 9

Now, that may seem like short notice, but I started August 20 and have three entries. Please enter!

With joy and my computer,

Amy Hollis

I need....

Hi ya'll! If there are anymore people that are on the staff, but have not been invited to join this blog, please, leave a comment WITH your email address, or email me at rachel.hipps12@gmail.com so that I can invite you! Thanks!
So it's probably to late but I have idea for the Sept. issue. I was thinking it would be nice to have an arictle about how to prepare for school for homeschoolers. I know I would like to read that, but it's just an idea.

Hello Everyone!

Hi guys! My name is Hannah and I'm a writer on the Bloom! Staff :)

1. I love to write poetical things :)
2. I'm 12 years old (almost 13!)
3. I love love love photography!
4. I'm very thankful for who I am.
5. I love the Lord with all my heart and soul.

My favorite color is the color that glimmers with love, flows with beauty and dances with moonbeams. In other words, I haven't found it yet.
My favorite season is the season that brings cool streams from heaven that nourishes the pink and yellow beauties, followed by sunshiny radiance that smells of green earth and happiness, along with chilled noses and hot cider, and finally, sparkling crystal covered pines and toasty orange flames in a stone fireplace.
In other words, I don't have a favorite season. I love all of them!
I enjoy hanging out with neighborhood kids, being active, playing my guitar, teaching myself songs on the piano, painting with watercolors, daydreaming and expressing myself in my writing and photography. I am a follower of Christ and try to do His will every day of my life. I am so happy and honored to be part of Bloom! and I can't wait to get started!

I have 9 pets, 5 cats and 4 dogs. I love them all very much! I live in Central Georgia, and I love being a Southern Belle! Pecan pie is one of my favorite desserts! ;)I have been a writer (primarily of  fiction/fantasy novels) since I was about eleven years old. I am homeschooled and have been all of my life! I'm very happy for that, and I'm glad to say that due to being homeschooled all of my life I will be graduating high school when I am 16. I have a Flickr account if any one is interested. Just be warned, it isn't in the best shape at the moment! Well, if y'all would like to know anything more about me, just ask! :D

Hello, lovelies!

Hey, gals!  I'm Hannah - a Bloom! Staff Photographer who is super-excited to be a part of this wonderful organization that lovely Kyann has started.

Goodness, that didn't define me in the least. Many of the staff members are photographers, and I think we're all pretty excited to be a part of the fabulous Bloom! Magazine.  As for more about myself-

I am a daughter, sister, dreamer, blogger, photographer, and Princess of Christ.  I'm thirteen years old and am home schooled by my wonderful momma, and I am so grateful for the time my parents invested in home-educating me as a Christian.  I live in Missouri with my parents and three younger siblings who make my day...daily.  I'm a lover of chocolate, sewing, flipflops, coffee (preferably a White-Chocolate mocha from Starbucks, or even better, a Cappuccino from Rome, Italy, which is, of course, very rare), reading, singing, music, computers..and, of course, blogging.

I take violin, dance Ballet and Tap at a fabulous dance studio, and attend an amazing co-op where I take classes such as drama, speech, science, writing, and the like.

I have a passion for finding beauty in the mundane (and the not-so-mundane) and capturing it with my camera.  I recently bought a Canon Rebel T2i, and, let's just say I'm in love.  I continue to improve in my photography.  I'm certainly not the best, but if I look at the photos I was taking a year ago, even six months ago, I see quite the improvement.  I am looking forward to seeing where this talent of mine brings me, and am so glad to be able to take pictures as a Staff Member here.

I wish my life to be glorifying, beautiful, and pleasing to the Lord, but so many times I fall short of this. Jesus accepts me as I am, though, and for that I am eternally grateful. If it is God's will, my wish is to one day be a wife, home-schooling mother, and professional photographer.

I'm so excited to get to know you all through this site, and through the magazine.  If you'd like to find out more about me, you're welcome to visit my main blog or my photography blog

Blessings!

Hello Everybody!

Hello dear readers and fellow authors! I'm Sally (though here on blogger please call me Cornet Crazie), I'm 14, and a photographer on the Bloom! staff.

Hmm. Well, I'll start with this. I've always thought that God must have put me here on Earth for a reason, and I have come to understand that that reason is to share my music. Can music make this world a better place? I don't know, but I'm going to try. As you can see from the picture I'm a trumpet player (as well as playing cornet, trombone, clarinet, piano, bass, percussion, mallet/vibe percussion and many more instruments soon to come!) and I often surprise people with my abilities after learning that I'm only 14. There's even more surprised when I give them the list of instruments and tell them I conduct and compose and arrange music as well! It's a beautiful gift God has given me, and my musical talent makes me feel truly blessed.

But enough of that. What else do I do? Well, there's that place that I'm 'forced' to go to every day for nine months a year, five days a week. But really? I don't mind school that much. I'm going to be heading into my freshman year in three days time, and I have to say, I'm excited! I obviously love my band classes but I enjoy French very much and I'm a total history junkie, especially when it comes to the World Wars and the Holocaust.

Other things I love?

Church, Pilgrim Lodge (my church summer camp.), friends who are like sisters/brothers, my camera, skiing, snow, puffy white clouds, good books, colored pencils, Owl City, deep quotes, blogs, field hockey, being vegetarian, laying in the grass, my family, cute little kids, writing, poetry, hot french fries, luna moths, softball, the smell of valve oil in the morning, plants, purple pens, chipmunks, my MacBook, drawing in chalk, weeping willows, snail mail, my iPod, other band geeks just like me, and the true beauty of Creation.

Hello!

Hi, everyone! My name is Amy Hollis and I'm a photographer for Bloom! Magazine.

I'm also a Christian, daughter, sister, cousin, niece, and, I'm sure, plenty other things in the family department. As for my own self, I'm an avid reader, an addicted blogger, a nature-lover, and a preschool-fan! Also, a home-schooler. I'm just starting the eighth grade and I just moved to the mountains. Have you ever walked bare-foot in the dewy grass? I'm afraid I've missed such an experience until just this morning.

I'm so excited about this blog, my new friends, and Bloom! in general. I'm on Staff 2, so you won't see any of my photographs until October. Unless you check out my blog, amyhollistaylor.blogspot.com.

Hoping you have a blessed day,
Amy Hollis Taylor

Hey Everyone!

Hi everyone! My name is Allie and I'm a photographer for Bloom! Magazine! I'm so excited about this magazine and can't wait to see what everyone does!

I am a 14 year old photographer. I am a Christian and I love God with all my heart! In the fall, I will begin my freshman year of high school; I've been homeschooled all my life and love it! Playing piano is one of the things that keeps me busy. I am the second oldest of four children, I have one older sister, one younger brother, and one younger sister. I love being in a big family even though it's not that great all the time! In my spare time I enjoy taking pictures, editing them, and blogging them! You can find my work at allie photography. I want to share my pictures on Bloom! Magazine in hope of encouraging other girls her age.

I guess that's it about me! :)

Allie

Hello everyone!

Hello Everyone! My name is Emily, and I'm a staff writer for the Bloom! magazine. I am very very happy to be able to contribute to the magazine and especially to make lots of new friends.

I'm sixteen and I live in Southern England with my parents and little brother. I'm really lucky to have a fantastic Christian family and lots of great friends too. I'm generally a happy person and I enjoy doing lots of things, either active things like swimming or more relaxing things like reading and writing. I like travelling and have been to lots of different countries. I also am a bit of a history geek and I enjoy learning about really cool old things (told you I was a geek!). I'm fighting a daily battle against cancer which isn't exactly great, but I love knowing that God is walking on this journey with me.

I don't know about all of you, but I can't wait to see the first issue of the magazine!

~Emily~

Hello!

Hi! My name is Rachel, and I am a staff photographer, and occasional writer. I'm really excited about this magazine, and can't wait until the first issue comes out! A little bit about me... well, I live out in the middle of nowhere, near a little community that isn't even a town. The nearest city is about 40 miles away, but we shop in a city an hour and a half away. I have six siblings, age ranging from sixteen to two years old. Some of my hobbies are reading!, photography, blogging, outdoors (whenever I'm not sneezing my head off), gardening, writing letters, cake decorating, and a LOT more! My favorite singers are Tim Mcgraw, Martina Mcbride, and Craig Morgan, and anyone else who is a country singer! My favorite movies are the 2009 adaption of Emma, Sense and Sensibility, The Princess Diaries one, The Princess Diaries two, The sound of music, Avatar, and Legally Blonde. My favorite actor? Definitly Julie Andrews!

Hello There!

Hey girls! My name is Mary Catherine, and I'm a staff writer and occasional photographer for the Bloom! magazine. I am so excited about this magazine and the influence that it will have on all girls our age.
So here's a little bit about me!
First of all, I adore writing, obviously. I am totally looking forward to getting more experienced through being a magazine writer. I am interested in a lot of things, like photography, interior design, fashion design, horses, singing, and piano. I focus best when music is playing. I adore kittens but can't have one because my brother is allergic. :) I'm an organization freak and my closet is color coded. I have a library of over one hundred books and all of them have been read at least five times each. If pink was an addiction, I would be an addict. I have a pet albino rabbit who's name is Cloud. He was born on the Fourth of July. Don't give me any grief over the un-original name - I got him when I was seven and automatically computed white, fluffy, Cloud!
I like old movies and actors and my favorite place is Williamsburg, Virginia, the living museum. History is my favorite subject and I love bizzare facts about anything. Like did you happen to know that MGM owns the rights to the "Happy Birthday" song?
I became a Christian when I was five and was baptized when I was eleven. I love Christ with all of my heart and do everything that I do for Him. I hope you will be able to learn more about Him as I do with this magazine and that it will encourage you to learn more about Him.
Well, I suppose that's about it. I hope you will follow this blog and subscribe to the magazine. Come along with us on our spiritual journey!
